The Leader's Guide provides agendas and instructional guidance to support a two-day presentation of core GPS concepts, practices and implications for agency and parent actions. The Leader's Guide also contains sections designed to facilitate development of the abilities listed at the beginning of each section.
In each section, the leader will find:
Process Directions: These sequentially numbered sentences in larger bold type are concise directions telling the leader what to do.
Content Notes: These paragraphs in regular type provide a model for the information that is to be verbally conveyed to participants.
Leader's Notes: Leader's Notes contain information helpful to the leader in facilitating the learning involved in each process direction.
Handouts to be used with each section are at the end of the Leader's Guide. These handouts are taken from the GPS Leader's Guide and are numbered the same as they appear there, each corresponding to the meeting in which the handout is used. References to use of handouts is contained in the process directions.
Some activities are listed as "optional." They are considered optional to the extent that the abilities they develop were considered to be comparatively less important to the total program objectives than the other activities. Omitting them will result in some loss of overall learning outcomes, but will not hinder the program's main objectives.
